Citizens rally to keep Milwaukee's water public
An estimated three hundred people rallied outside Milwuakee City Hall yesterday to protest the proposed privatization of Milwaukee's Water Works. The Milwaukee Common Council had discussed leasing Milwaukee's water operations to a private company in order to mend a budget shortfall. Although the issue has been tabled for now, the Common Council indicated that it may be discussed in the future.
Milwaukee Riverkeeper and many others under the banner of KPOW (Keep Public Our Water) spoke out in favor of passing a resolution to ban the privatization of Milwaukee's water for good.
