December 7, 2009

89.7FM WUWM - Milwaukee Public Radio is designating a week to explore the issue of water.  The series is called “Project Milwaukee - The Currency of Water.”

They plan to explore southeastern Wisconsin’s prospects of becoming an international hub for water technology.

We will post each story as they become available.

  • The first story is from WUWM environmental reporter Susan Bence taking a look at the history of water use in Milwaukee and what’s contributing to the water hub dream.  To listen to that story click here.
  • Their second story covers the relation between Milwaukee's water supply and local businesses.  Listen here.
  • In their third installment, WUWM covers Milwaukee’s efforts to become a global hub for water research and technology.  You can hear that story here
  • Is it possible for a region to make itself the headquarters of the water industry? Is there competition? WUWM seeks answers to these questions, in the fourth installment of Project Milwaukee: The Currency of Water. Listen to the broadcast here.
  • The last broadcast in the series delves into a report that calls the initiative to make Milwaukee a water hub financially risky and unlikely to succeed. To listen to that story click here.
